From the Front Page: The U.N. Votes to Seat the People’s Republic of China on Oct. 25, 1971
The United Nations General Assembly voted to give China’s U.N. seat to the People’s Republic of China and expel the representatives of the Republic of China government, based in Taiwan. The move ended a long struggle over China’s representation in the U.N.
