Reserve Bank has announced a sudden hike in the repo rate for banks. A decision to raise the repo rate by 0.25 percent was made during the Reserve Bank meeting held today, increasing the rate from 5.25 percent to 5.50 percent. This hike in the RBI's repo rate is likely to lead to higher interest rates on home and vehicle loans.
